Singapore AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2014

To remember those who passed away with AIDS and to stand in solidarity with those living with HIV.

It sadden me when the medical caregivers shared the stories of their deceased patients using names like Mr A or Mr J. It is so highly stigmatized that their real names weren't shared after they passed on. Some passed away without disclosing their illnesses to their families.

I really hope that the society will change. HIV and AIDS is just like any other diseases & illnesses. Do not pass judgment, as we do not know what they are going through.

Last friday, I massaged Mr R who became really skinny, almost left with skin and skeleton only (he was on diapers and a bag for his urine). A year ago when I massaged him, his legs were still quite muscular, and things changed drastically over a year.  Mr R is having chest infection and is currently very very sick, and his journey is coming to an end soon.

He has a wife and 2 children, who hasn't visited him for a long time. He has a nasty attitude towards the medical caregivers, and a pent-up anger and frustration. It is very sad.

He is really suffering. He don't even have the energy to cough out the phlegm in his throat, and I felt as though he could be drowned by his phlegm.

It really sadden me that he is suffering both physically and mentally. Even during his last days, his family members ain't by his side.

I only wish that his family would visit him soon and he could learn to let go of his anger, regret, and guilt. Hopefully, he could find peace soon.

**Update: Mr R passed away in early Jun'14. He was around 50 years year. May he rest in peace.**
